Rigorous Quality Control

We have a rigorous in house quality control system to ensure that all wood chip is of agreeable, consistent quality and meets either P30, or P45, specification. The primary processing involves chipping the full stem rods. After chipping, a secondary screening process in undertaken, this removes any chip that does not meet either, P30, or P45 specification, depending on screens involved.

Fuel delivery options

We offer fuel delivery options in the following forms

  • Ex yard by prior arrangement.
  • 40m3 Tipper delivery, suitable for heizotrans woodchip blower or below ground delivery.
  • 50m3 wood chip blower delivery (35-60m3/hour), suitable for above ground fuel stores. (Please note it is highly advised and extremely important that we are consulted with fuel store design plans prior to construction commencing).
  • 100 - 140m3 walking floor delivery.

All fuel is supplied as standard at 20% moisture content.

This complies with the European W20 standard and provides maximum available energy per ton, as gross energy content in the timber (and hence energy output of the boiler) is not wasted driving off excess moisture . . . water does not burn!

ESCO's

Hegan Biomass operates ESCO contracts in Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland.

Under this model, the client enters into a long term contract (e.g. 10 years or more) to buy metered energy from us at a pre-agreed index-linked price.

Using this model Hegan Biomass assumes all responsibility for the design, financing, installation, operation and maintenance (including fuel delivery and ash removal) of the biomass system at the client’s site which means that there is no capital cost required on the part of the client who simply pays for the output of the system i.e. cheaper greener energy as he uses it.

The ESCO model is a low risk option that delivers energy cost savings and carbon emission reductions with no capital cost or operational responsibility. Suitable applications for the ESCO model are those clients with a relatively constant heat load such as hospitals and nursing homes, process plants (industrial/food/beverages/timber/etc.), district heating for public/commercial buildings, and leisure facilities.
